Peruvian Amazon Adventure: Sailing, Canopy Tour, and Wildlife Encounter in the Heart of the Jungle

Full day Trip TambopataIf you love nature, adrenaline, and the unique biodiversity of the Amazon, you can’t miss one of the region’s most exciting experiences: a guided adventure along the

majestic Madre de Dios River and the Tambopata National Reserve. This journey will take you through breathtaking landscapes, unfamiliar wildlife, and activities that will immerse you in the very

heart of the Peruvian jungle.

1. Sailing the Madre de Dios River: The Beginning of an Unforgettable Adventure Full day Trip Tambopata

The day begins at the meeting point with your specialized guide, where you will be escorted to the Capitanía port. From there, we will embark on an approximately 1-hour sail along the calm

waters of the Madre de Dios River, a riverine path that winds through the rainforest, offering spectacular views of the local flora and fauna. The river acts as a true mirror of nature, reflecting the

deep greens of the jungle and the sky above.

2. Rainforest Canopy: A Unique Perspective of the Tambopata National Reserve Full day Trip Tambopata

Upon arrival at our refuge, we’ll prepare for an experience that will allow you to see the rainforest from a new height: a canopy tour suspended 30 meters above the ground. During this aerial walk,

we’ll traverse several platforms built above the trees, providing a breathtaking panoramic view of the Madre de Dios River and the vast Tambopata National Reserve. Accompanied by our guide,

you’ll observe a wide variety of fascinating birds, such as toucans, macaws, and orioles, flying through the trees while you enjoy a privileged perspective of the rainforest.

This tour will immerse you in the Amazonian ecosystem in a way that only a few get to experience, making every step an opportunity to marvel at the region’s incredible biodiversity.

3. Zipline in the Jungle: The Adventure of Flying Through the Trees Full day Trip Tambopata

After enjoying the canopy, it’s time to unleash your adrenaline with an exciting zipline ride. Equipped with a harness and following the instructions of your guide, you’ll glide from tree to tree,

feeling the wind on your face as you observe the majestic Amazon jungle at high speed. This activity is perfect for those seeking a dose of adventure while staying connected to nature in its purest

form.

4. Break and Lunch: Refueling for the Adventure Ahead

After the excitement of the zipline, it’s time for a well-deserved rest. At our camp, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch with local flavors, ideal for replenishing your energy before continuing your journey.

5. Kayak Adventure: Crossing the River to Monkey Island

In the afternoon, prepare for another challenge: crossing the Madre de Dios River by kayak. On this journey through the calm waters of the jungle, you will reach the famous Monkey Island, a

natural sanctuary home to various species of primates. Here, you can observe and photograph capuchin monkeys, monk monkeys, and many other species, while learning about their behavior and

vital role in the Amazon ecosystem.

6. Return to Puerto Maldonado: End of an Epic Adventure

At the end of the visit to the island, we will begin the return to Puerto Maldonado, where this adventure filled with emotions, learning, and unforgettable memories will conclude. This tour is the

perfect complement for travelers seeking an authentic experience, surrounded by the magic and mystery of the Peruvian Amazon.

Why Choose This Experience?

Travel Tips

Wear Comfortable, Light Clothing: The tropical climate can be hot and humid, so make sure you’re prepared to enjoy the activities without worrying about the heat.

Insect Protection: Although the refuge is designed to minimize contact with insects, it’s recommended to bring insect repellent.

Camera and Binoculars: Don’t forget your binoculars and a quality camera to capture the beauty of the Amazon’s flora and fauna.

The Madre de Dios River originates in the Peruvian Andes Mountains from the confluence of several rivers, including the Manu, the Alto Madre de Dios, the Tacuatimanu (or Las Piedras), and the

Inambari. These rivers converge near the city of Puerto Maldonado, where the river is known as the Bajo Madre de Dios and flows into Bolivia.

Origin of the tributaries: The tributaries of the Madre de Dios River originate in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, and their waters are of rain, glacial, and spring origin.
