Just a short 45-minute flight from Cusco, Tambopata opens the door to a world teeming with life, color, and unforgettable adventure.
A Global Refuge of Biodiversity
Recognized as a biodiversity hotspot by Conservation International, the Tambopata National Reserve stands as one of the most biologically rich places on Earth. Tucked away in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, this protected sanctuary is a living paradise where nature thrives in its purest form.
Tambopata shelters an astonishing variety of wildlife and tropical flora, including rare and endangered species that have vanished from other parts of the Amazon due to deforestation and poaching. Here, in this untouched rainforest, life continues to flourish, offering a glimpse into what the jungle once was.
Among the extraordinary creatures that call Tambopata home are:
Tapirs
Spider Monkeys
Jaguars
White-lipped Peccaries
Diverse Monkeys and Caimans in Their Natural Habitat
Thanks to its remote access and complete absence of roads, this pristine ecosystem remains virtually untouched. It serves as a vital sanctuary for the incredible array of wildlife and lush flora that thrive in its dense jungles and winding rivers.
A Destination for Adventure and Conservation
Tambopata National Reserve is part of a vast network of protected areas covering over 3.6 million hectares (nearly 9 million acres) dedicated to environmental conservation. Beyond its astonishing biodiversity, the region offers breathtaking landscapes—perfect for ecotourism, wildlife photography, and unforgettable jungle expeditions.
This corner of the Peruvian Amazon is a hidden gem for travelers passionate about nature, conservation, and outdoor adventure. If you’re seeking a one-of-a-kind experience immersed in the wild, Tambopata should be at the top of your travel bucket list.
