Arrival & Registration
Upon your arrival at Puerto Maldonado Airport or bus terminal, our staff will welcome you and transfer you to our main office for check-in and orientation.
River Journey to the Jungle
Board a motorized canoe and enjoy a scenic 40-minute ride along the Madre de Dios River. Along the way, you’ll
spot white herons, anhingas, cormorants, and even sunbathing caimans lounging on the sandy riverbanks — your first taste of Amazonian wildlife.

We disembark at the entrance to the Sandoval Lake Reserve. After registering with park authorities, we begin a 3 km
(1.9 miles) guided hike through flat rainforest trails, surrounded by towering trees, vibrant plants, and the sounds of hidden animals.
Arrival & Canoe Transfer to the Lodge
Reaching the lake’s edge, we switch to a quiet paddle canoe, gliding across the tranquil waters to your comfortable lodge.
Here, you’ll settle into your private room, immersed in the untouched nature of the Amazon.
Day 2: Palm Lick – Return to Puerto Maldonado
Early Morning Adventure (5:00 a.m.):
Begin your day with an early wake-up call to explore the Palm Lick, a unique natural site where vibrant macaws,
parrots, and parakeets gather to feed on the nutritious fruits of the aguaje palm. This Amazonian delicacy is rich in
vitamins and minerals, and witnessing this colorful feeding frenzy at dawn is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for
nature lovers and birdwatchers.
Breakfast and Return to the Lodge:
After this spectacular wildlife encounter, head back to the lodge for a well-deserved breakfast. Relax briefly, enjoying the peaceful rainforest atmosphere before preparing for your return journey.
Farewell and Transfer:
You’ll then be transferred to the bus terminal or the airport in Puerto Maldonado, depending on your travel schedule

DAY 1: Puerto Maldonado – Amazon Wildlife – Sandoval Lake: Monkey Island & Night Walk
Welcome to the Amazon Wildlife Sandoval Lake Nature Reserve! We will meet you upon arrival at the airport or bus terminal in Puerto Maldonado and take you to our main office for check-in.
From there, we’ll head to the Madre de Dios River port, where we board a motorized boat for a scenic 40-minute ride.
During the boat journey, you’ll spot a variety of wildlife such as white herons, anhingas, cormorants, and sunbathing caimans on sandbanks.
We’ll arrive at the main checkpoint of the Sandoval Lake Reserve, where each visitor must register. From here, we’ll begin a 3-kilometer nature hike along a flat trail that leads deep into the Amazon rainforest, reaching a small hidden dock.
Next, we board a wooden paddle canoe and travel across the tranquil waters to our jungle lodge. After check-in, you’ll settle into your private room with en-suite bathroom.
In the afternoon, we’ll take a guided walk to observe birds, monkeys, and other large animals. Along the trail, you’ll see towering trees, medicinal plants, orchids, ferns, and the Brazil nut tree, known for its highly commercialized nuts.
After a delicious dinner, we’ll head out on an exciting night walk. With the help of our naturalist guide, we’ll look for insects, butterflies, tarantulas, nocturnal birds, and if we’re lucky, even the elusive dusky titi monkey.
We’ll also take the paddle canoe again to spot nocturnal wildlife along the lake. After this adventure, we return to the lodge for rest in your private jungle room.
DAY 2: Amazon Wildlife – Sandoval Lake Palm Lick – Puerto Maldonado
We’ll wake up early at 5:00 AM to visit the Palm Lick (Collpa de Palmeras). Here, you’ll witness the spectacular sight of macaws, parrots, and parakeets gathering to feed on the nutritious aguaje palm fruit, which grows in the swampy wetlands of the Amazon.
This fruit is a superfood, rich in vitamins A, E, B12, B13, C, as well as sodium, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and other minerals.
After this birdwatching activity, we return to the Amazon Wildlife Lodge to enjoy a hearty breakfast.
Then we begin our return journey to Puerto Maldonado, with drop-off at the bus terminal or airport depending on your travel schedule.

Lunch on the last day is not included in the program and must be paid separately.
