Next, we will head to the port to board a boat that will take us for an hour to our jungle lodge. Upon arrival, you’ll

be welcomed with a delicious tropical fruit juice before settling into your comfortable room.

After a brief rest, we’ll embark on a two-hour introductory hike into the jungle. Guided by an expert local, you’ll

explore trails revealing ancient trees and have the chance to observe Amazonian wildlife, including colorful toucans,

brilliant oropendolas, chatty parrots, playful monkeys, fascinating snakes, and dazzling butterflies. You’ll immerse yourself in the magic of the Tambopata National Reserve, a vast paradise of 278,000 hectares protected by Peruvian laws.

After lunch, we’ll cross the Madre de Dios River to visit the fascinating “Monkey Island.”

In this sanctuary, you’ll see various monkey species such as the brown capuchin, squirrel monkey, saddleback

tamarin, and white capuchin, enjoying a unique experience in their natural habitat.

We’ll then return to the lodge to relax.

As night falls, we’ll embark on an exciting caiman search along the banks of the Madre de Dios River. Don’t forget to bring a flashlight for this nocturnal adventure.

With some luck, you might spot the capybara, the world’s largest rodent, which can weigh up to 60 kilograms and is

an impressive representation of the Peruvian cuy.

Finally, we’ll return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious dinner and spend a restful night in this magical corner of the jungle amazon trips.

Day 2: Amazon Travels Lake Sandoval / Puerto Maldonado / Land Terminal

Explore the Lake Sandoval Reserve. After a delicious breakfast, we’ll head to the port to board a motorized boat, traveling upstream.

Along the way, we’ll make stops at the entrance to Lake Sandoval Reserve.

From there, we’ll begin a 3-kilometer walk to a small port where a rowing canoe will be waiting to navigate us into the heart of Lake Sandoval.

After an early and revitalizing breakfast, we’ll take a boat to the majestic Lake Sandoval. Once there and after

passing through the checkpoint, we’ll start a 3-kilometer (approximately 2 miles) walk through the lush tropical rainforest to reach the lake, one of the greatest treasures of the Tambopata National Reserve and home to enigmatic piranhas.

After this immersive walk, we’ll board a rowing boat to explore the tranquil waters of the lake. During our

navigation, you’ll have the chance to observe a surprising variety of birds and monkeys, from the curious hoatzin

and elegant cormorants to jacanas and majestic eagles. In the forest, you may admire howler monkeys, squirrel

monkeys, black capuchins, tamarins, and slow-moving sloths.

Additionally, with some luck, we might encounter the impressive giant river otters, which can grow up to nearly two

meters long and are critically endangered. We might also spot the largest recorded caiman, measuring over 4 meters in length.

After this unforgettable experience, we’ll return to the lodge to enjoy a typical lunch filled with local flavors before

heading back to the city, carrying with us unique memories of the incredible biodiversity of the Amazon Peru.
