Your Amazon adventure begins upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, where our team will greet you at the airport or bus terminal. A brief stop at our main office ensures you’re registered and prepared before we set off at 8:30 AM.

A scenic two-hour drive takes us to Tambopata Port, where a motorized boat awaits. As we cruise along the Tambopata River for approximately 50 minutes, keep your eyes open for fascinating wildlife—colorful birds, capybaras, white caimans, sunbathing turtles, and, if you’re lucky, a jaguar lounging along the shore.

Upon arriving at Tambopata Lodge, a refreshing Amazonian drink welcomes you before settling into your comfortable eco-lodge. After a delicious lunch, immerse yourself in the pristine rainforest on a guided nature walk, where ancient trees coexist with monkeys, butterflies, frogs, and remarkable insects.

As night falls, embark on an exhilarating nocturnal jungle walk, using flashlights to spot caimans and other nocturnal creatures. Return to your lodge for a restful night, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.

Day 2: Macaw Clay Lick at Chuncho & Jungle Exploration

Watch as flocks of vibrant Scarlet and Red Macaws descend upon the clay-rich riverbank, engaging in a dazzling display of color and sound while replenishing essential minerals. Enjoy breakfast as you take in this unforgettable natural phenomenon.

After returning to the lodge for lunch and a short rest, continue your jungle exploration on foot. Your guide will introduce you to the Amazon’s diverse flora and fauna, highlighting its hidden wonders. After dinner, another night walk presents an opportunity to hear the jungle’s mesmerizing symphony and possibly spot nocturnal wildlife such as tarantulas, night monkeys, or snakes.

During the reopening ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Strategic

Development of Natural Resources highlighted that both Lake Sandoval and Collpa Chuncho have gained recognition in the region. “This wonderful place greatly benefits sustainable tourism. Sernanp, underscored the importance of reopening

“such a significant place as Collpa Chuncho, achieved with the joint effort of our allies, the tour operators. We are complying with all safety protocols and firmly believe that tourism represents a wonderful opportunity for this region.”

The regional governor, Luis Hidalgo, expressed his desire for Madre de Dios to recover the tourism movement it had in previous years. “We must continue promoting the preservation of our natural resources through the joint efforts of the central, regional, local governments, and tour operators. By working together, we can achieve our goals,” he added.

The Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick is located in the Upper .

Tambopata Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick sector and is renowned for its size and the opportunity to spot birds such as the macaw.

During this morning’s visit by the delegation, investments were observed that enhance the visitor experience with improved access, proximity, and security.

To further enhance the enjoyment and comfort of visitors to this protected natural area, an elevated viewpoint with

sanitary facilities and an elevated trail of nearly 500 meters has been constructed.
