Day 1: From Cusco to the Cloud Forest – Gateway to Manu National Park

Your adventure begins early in Cusco. From the imperial city, we travel by road through breathtaking landscapes, transitioning from the high Andes to lush cloud forests.
Highlight stops:
Chullpas of Ninamarca – Pre-Incan funerary towers offering insight into ancient Lupaca burial customs.
Paucartambo – A charming colonial town where Andean traditions remain strong.
Acjanaco Viewpoint – At 3,500 meters above sea level, this marks the official entrance to Manu and the shift from highland to rainforest.

As we descend into the jungle’s edge, the climate turns warmer and more humid. Along the way, you may spot:

  •  The Cock-of-the-Rock, Peru’s national bird
  •  Orchids, giant ferns, and colorful butterflies
  •  Monkeys and fascinating bird species of the cloud forest

Day 2: Into the Manu Reserved Zone – Navigating the Madre de Dios River

After breakfast, we head to Atalaya Port, where we board a motorized canoe and travel down the Madre de Dios River, surrounded by vibrant rainforest scenery and active wildlife Tour.
Today’s highlights include:

  • Natural hot springs for a soothing dip
  •  Bird, reptile, and mammal sightings along the riverbanks
  •  Official check-in at Limonal, the control point for Manu National Park
  •  We officially enter the Manu Reserved Zone, one of the planet’s most biologically rich areas.

At night, a guided jungle walk reveals frogs, glowing insects, and nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat.

Day 3: Cocha Salvador and Cocha Otorongo – Up-Close Wildlife Encounters

One of the most exciting days of the tour. We visit two oxbow lakes, ancient river meanders ideal for wildlife observation.
Cocha Salvador:

  • Quiet catamaran ride (non-motorized) for minimal disturbance
  •  Sightings of giant river otters, aquatic birds, and monkeys
  •  Elevated platforms for better views and photography

Primary Forest Hike: Walk through ancient forest trails with over 1,000 tree species. You may spot up to seven species of monkeys, including red howlers, spider monkeys, and squirrel monkeys.
Cocha Otorongo: A 20-meter observation tower offering panoramic views
Possible sightings of caimans, capybaras, otters, and rare birds
This day is perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking a deep connection with the Amazon rainforest.

Day 4: Macaw Clay Lick and Jaguar Search – Untamed Nature at Its Finest

We rise before dawn to witness the Macaw Clay Lick, a natural clay wall where hundreds of parrots and macaws gather each morning to consume essential minerals. A vibrant spectacle of sound and color.
We then continue navigating the Manu River, with opportunities to spot:

  •  Jaguars, tapirs, sloths, anacondas, and anteaters
  •  Guided hike from Limonal, exploring giant trees and medicinal plants
  •  Wildlife such as peccaries, snakes, iguanas, and rare birds

The day ends at an eco-lodge on the Alto Madre de Dios River, with an optional guided night walk.

Day 5: Return to Cusco – Farewell to the Amazon

Early in the morning, we begin our journey back. We return by boat to Atalaya Port, then continue by private vehicle to Cusco.
