Tour Itinerary: Sandoval Lake Lodge – 2 Days in the Amazon Rainforest Trip

Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Maldonado – Your Amazon Adventure Begins

Your journey starts the moment you arrive at Puerto Maldonado Airport, where our team will greet you with a warm
welcome. We’ll head to our local office for a short orientation and to securely store any large luggage—you’ll bring
only what’s needed for the jungle expedition.

We then travel to the port, where a motorized canoe will carry you along the Madre de Dios River, one of the main
tributaries of the Amazon, toward the entrance to Sandoval Lake Tours .

After a 30-minute ride, you’ll begin a scenic 3 km (1.8-mile) jungle walk—an ideal chance to spot tropical birds,
butterflies, and fascinating native plants.

At a narrow waterway, you’ll switch to a paddle canoe and quietly glide through the flooded forest into the serene Sandoval Lake.

As you explore the mirror-like waters, keep your eyes open for Giant Otters, howler monkeys, and vibrant macaws.

With some luck, you might even see the enormous paiche—an Amazonian fish that can weigh over 220 lbs (100 kg).
After a delicious dinner at the lodge, head out for a night safari by boat. Search for black caimans, frogs, and

nocturnal birds. On clear nights, enjoy the breathtaking view of the stars and the glowing arc of the Milky Way over
the rainforest.

Day 2: Sunrise at Sandoval Lake – Return to Puerto Maldonado Amazon Rainforest Trip .

Wake early to witness the Amazon sunrise—a magical moment as the jungle stirs to life and the lake reflects the
glowing sky. After a final paddle through the western palm swamps, you’ll return to the Madre de Dios River and
head back to Puerto Maldonado.

Our team will escort you to the airport, your hotel, or bus station, marking the end of your extraordinary Amazon
journey.
