Peruvian Amazon Tour 2 Days: Jungle Adventure & Sandoval Lake

Tour in the Peruvian Amazon 2 days is ideal for travelers seeking an authentic experience in the Peruvian rainforest in a short time. It combines adventure, biodiversity, and direct contact with nature, all accompanied by expert local guides.

Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Maldonado & Jungle Exploration

Your experience begins with a warm welcome at the airport or bus terminal in Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to the southern Peruvian rainforest.

From there, we will transfer you to our office for a brief orientation, where you will receive key recommendations to make the most of your Amazon adventure.

Next, we head to the port to begin a boat journey along the majestic Madre de Dios River. For approximately one hour, you will navigate through lush vegetation until reaching our ecolodge, where you will be greeted with a refreshing tropical fruit drink.

After settling into your comfortable room and taking a short rest, we will begin an introductory 2-hour walk through the tropical rainforest. Accompanied by a naturalist guide, you will explore trails surrounded by giant trees over 500

years old. In this unique environment, you may observe a wide variety of Amazonian wildlife such as toucans, parrots, oropendolas, monkeys, butterflies, and, with some luck, snakes in their natural habitat.

This activity takes place within the impressive Tambopata National Reserve, a protected area of more than 278,000 hectares that hosts one of the greatest biodiversities on the planet.

After lunch, we will cross the river to visit the famous Monkey Island, a natural sanctuary inhabited by species such as capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and tamarins. This close encounter with local wildlife is an unforgettable experience for nature lovers.

Night Activity: Peruvian Amazon Tour

As night falls, we will embark on an exciting caiman-spotting excursion along the riverbanks. With the help of flashlights, you will be able to spot their glowing eyes in the darkness. There is also a chance to see capybaras, the largest rodents in the world.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle Amazon .

Day 2: Sandoval Lake – Nature in Its Purest Form -Tour in the Peruvian Amazon .

After an early breakfast, we will begin our journey to one of the most iconic destinations in the region:

Sandoval Lake, located within the Tambopata National Reserve.

The excursion starts with a short boat ride to the checkpoint, followed by a walk of approximately 3 km through the rainforest. This trail offers excellent opportunities to observe flora and fauna in their purest state.

Upon arrival at the lake, we will board a canoe to explore its calm waters. This ecosystem is home to an impressive variety of wildlife, including:

  • Birds such as hoatzins, herons, cormorants, and eagles
  •  Mammals such as howler monkeys, capuchins, and sloths
  •  Reptiles such as caimans

And, with some luck, the majestic giant river otter, an endangered species.
Sandoval Lake is also known for its piranhas and its serene landscape, making it ideal for photography and a deep connection with nature. tambopata macaw clay lick  .

After this experience, we will return to the lodge to enjoy a typical Amazonian lunch before heading back to Puerto Maldonado.
