Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata Eco Lodge.
Your adventure begins with a warm welcome at Puerto Maldonado Airport. From there, you’ll travel by road before boarding a motorized canoe along the Tambopata River to reach your eco-lodge deep in the Amazon rainforest.
After lunch, enjoy an introductory guided rainforest walk where you’ll discover the incredible diversity of Amazonian flora and fauna. Later, climb an observation tower for breathtaking panoramic views over the rainforest canopy.
After dark, those who wish may join an exciting night excursion to search for black caimans, white caimans, and other fascinating nocturnal wildlife along the river.
Day 2: Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick.
Before sunrise, you’ll travel by boat to the world-famous Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick.
From a specially designed observation point, witness one of South America’s most spectacular wildlife events as
hundreds of scarlet, blue-and-yellow, and red-and-green macaws, along with parrots and parakeets, gather to feed on the mineral-rich clay cliffs.
After breakfast, experience an exciting kayaking adventure on the Tambopata River while surrounded by the untouched beauty of the Amazon.
In the evening, enjoy a guided night walk to discover insects, frogs, spiders, amphibians, and many other nocturnal creatures that emerge after sunset.
Day 3: Primary Rainforest & Mammal Clay Lick.
Today’s adventure takes you deep into the pristine primary rainforest, one of the least disturbed ecosystems in the Peruvian Amazon.
During your guided hike, you’ll encounter towering ancient trees, medicinal plants traditionally used by local
Amazonian communities, and a natural mammal clay lick visited by peccaries, deer, and other rainforest wildlife.
In the afternoon, experience traditional fishing on the Tambopata River using local techniques while enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the jungle.
Day 4: Lake Quiroz & Amazon Ecosystems.
Today’s excursion leads to beautiful Lake Quiroz, an ideal location for wildlife observation.
This peaceful wetland attracts numerous species of aquatic birds, reptiles, monkeys, capybaras, and other Amazonian animals.
Your naturalist guide will explain the ecological importance of Amazon wetlands and their vital role in conserving one of the world’s richest ecosystems.
Later, visit a traditional Amazon farm where you’ll learn about local crops such as cacao, bananas, cassava, and other plants cultivated by local families for generations.
If conditions permit, the day concludes with another fascinating night walk to continue exploring the remarkable biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest.
Day 5: Return to Puerto Maldonado .
Before breakfast, you’ll have the opportunity to take one final optional walk around the lodge and enjoy the unforgettable sounds of the Peruvian Amazon one last time.
Afterward, you’ll travel back by boat along the Tambopata River and continue by road to Puerto Maldonado, where you’ll be transferred to the airport for your departure.
