Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Maldonado & Tambopata National Reserve
Your Peruvian Amazon adventure begins in Puerto Maldonado, the main gateway to many of the natural attractions of the Madre de Dios region.
From the city, you will travel toward the Tambopata area. Depending on the location of the lodge and the operation of the program, the transfer may combine ground transportation and river navigation.
Upon arrival at the lodge, you will receive a welcome briefing and an introduction to the scheduled activities, safety guidelines, and recommendations for enjoying the rainforest responsibly.
The Tambopata National Reserve offers different sectors and routes for hiking, river excursions, and flora and wildlife observation.
Introductory Rainforest Hike : In the afternoon, you will take your first walk through the Amazon rainforest accompanied by a guide.
During the hike, you will learn to identify different species of plants and trees and discover the signs and tracks left by wildlife.
With some luck, you may observe:

Hike to Sandoval Lake : The hike passes through tropical rainforest and provides an excellent opportunity to observe flora and wildlife.
Throughout the walk, your guide will pay close attention to the sounds and movements of animals.
Among the species you may encounter are:
